So when October arrived and we finally moved in, I was ready to leave my supermarket job & continue with Baby Moments full time, and relax back into self employment and just working normal hours. However upon handing my notice in, I then realised I would be slightly lost without my new work friends & the routine id created. Anyone that knows me knows I don't stop talking and the thought of going back into my workshop to just listen to the radio and work away alone made me kind of sad. So I decided to stay & use this work as my resting time from thinking about business 3 evenings a week.
Christmas happened & went extremely smoothly (I think I've got the hang of it now!), making so many castings & jewellery pieces. The one & only moment of stress was when I turned up to my glass merchants for my Christmas frame orders to find it had suddenly closed down, very sad for them and a moment of worry for me! Luckily an old friend called Matt who has just taken over Boxmoor Framers, and who has been running the picture framing stall in Hemel & Berkhamstead for years, stepped in and saved me & will be my new local supplier from now on. Another thing that helped this Christmas was that the majority of you booking for Christmas gifts booked in Oct/Nov which I was really impressed and relived by, so thank you!
So come Christmas eve I was happily relaxing into the break like everyone else, expecting another year of seeing family & eating lots of food (which did happen). Little did I know when I woke up Christmas morning that my boyfriend Josh was going to propose! I had been dropping enormous hints for the last 2ish years but really had no expectation this would happen anytime soon. Of course I said yes, he is my best friend & has always been there to keep me going when I find I need it, particularly when starting up the business & managing to adapt as I've become busier, and the fun times & laughter we have together is the happiest thing in the world to me. So I cannot wait to marry him this year (we set a date just 6 days after getting engaged!).
Buzzing from Christmas I once again mistakenly thought January was going to be fairly quiet, oh how wrong I was! In 5 days last week I had 15 people book in, that is insane! So many November/December babies have been born & I am so looking forward to meeting and casting their little tiny hands & feet.
Here is to a new year, new parents & new little lives I am yet to meet! I shall do my best to blog more often this year :)
